Chamber Committees

The best way to build relationships with area businesses and to become more knowledgeable about what is going on in Bethesda-Chevy chase is to join a Chamber committee. Most Chamber committees meet once a month for an hour, so you can get a great return for a minimal investment of time. Participation on a committee is open to all Chamber Members. Please review the descriptions of the committees below and contact the appropriate staff to get involved!

BCC NextExec Committee
(3rdTuesday of the Month - 3:00 p.m.)

The BCC NextExec Committee plans and executes events and programs targeting the Chamber’s young professionals. Events and programs center around the Chamber’s benefit areas: visibility, connections, advocacy, resources and community development.
This is for you if: You’re a young professional interested in helping plan the BCC NextExec events and programs.

Community Development Committee
(2nd Thursday of each month - 9 a.m.)

The Community Development Committee reaches out to assist those in our own back yard. Officer of the Month awards for police, fire and rescue squad employees (year-round), Community Service Day (Oct), Goodwill Dinner (Dec), Kids In Need Drive (KIND) which benefits disadvantaged children through school supply drives (Aug/Jan) and the Gently Used Business Charity Drive.
This is for you if: You want to build business contacts with those interested in community service and help the community at the same time.

Economic Development & Government Relations Committee
(4th Wednesday of each month - 8 a.m.)

The Economic Development & Government Relations Committee has a proactive approach to ensuring that business needs are being met in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights and throughout Montgomery County. The Committee develops a proactive legislative agenda, monitoring all issues affecting living, working and doing business in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase community, working with the county's leading decision-makers.

Education Committee

The Education Committee plans the Annual Career Partnership Day-an event that introduces local high school juniors and seniors to business leaders in their potential career field throughout the community.
This if for you if: You want to want to help prepare students for the workplace and make connections to our future workplace.

Marketing & Communications Committee
(1st Thursday of each month - 9 a.m.)

The purpose of this committee is to review the Chamber's modes of communications and marketing, and to advise and direct the Chamber in its goals to increase the visibility for the members and the Chamber.
This is for you if: You are a professional in the area of marketing and communications. Committee meetings will also enable exchange of information for professional development.

Membership Development Committee
(4th Friday of each month - 9:15 a.m.)

The Membership Committee focuses on the recruitment and retention of Chamber members through membership recruitment programs, and works to ensure that members are well connected and getting the most from their Chamber investment. Projects include: Targeting key companies, membership recruitment campaign, prospective member luncheons, member-to-member visits, Quick Connect Meetings for new or inactive members, Keep Connected Member Forums for all members, etc.
This is for you if: You like to make new business contacts or want to expand your Chamber member contacts though development and retention efforts.

Parking & Transportation Committee
(1st Tuesday of each month - 8 a.m.)

This Committee focuses on parking policies and transportation issues in our community. The Committee’s responsibilities include evaluating the mixture of short and long term parking available, lobbying for additional parking to be built as well as working with Bethesda Transportation Solutions. This is done by working closely with Montgomery County officials, developers and local business owners.
This is for you if: You're interested in keeping our area vibrant through effective parking and transportation management.

Real Estate Forum Committee
(4th Wednesday of each month - 9 a.m.)

This Committee focuses on the promotion and business development of real estate and related members of the Chamber through quarterly networking after-hours and promotional information on members in this industry.
This is for you if: You’re interested in learning about the ongoing changes in commercial and residential real estate in the community.

Senior Focus Committee
(2nd Tuesday of each month)

The Senior Focus Committee develops networking opportunities for businesses focused on the senior market, as well as reaching out to the senior community regarding products and information available through the Chamber and its members.
This for you if: Your business focuses on the senior market or you want to learn about how to market your services to seniors, one of the fastest growing segments of the community.

Special Events Committee

The Chamber has several special events that are planned throughout the year. These events include our the Annual Legislative Reception (Fall 2005), Annual Fall Gala (Fall 2005), Annual Business & Tech Expo Trade Show (Spring 2006), the Annual Golf Classic (Spring 2006), and the Annual Installation & Awards Dinner (June 2006), These events are great ways for our businesses to promote themselves to the community and to each other.

Strategic Planning Committee

The Strategic Planning Committee develops and reviews the strategic plan (click here to see the 2005-2006 Plan) for the Chamber, both near and long-term.

Technology Resources Committee
(1st Thursday of each month - 8 a.m.)

The Technology Resources Committee focuses on educating the local businesses on changes that are occurring in the industry and how they can benefit from those changes. The Committee hosts seminars, Technology Networking Breakfasts and workshops throughout the year, and writes the monthly Bytes of Bethesda article in the monthly ChamberNews to share this information with the membership.
This is for you if: You work for or provide services to tech firms, want to network with area tech companies, and want to educate the chamber membership at large about tech-related issues.
