On Friday, January 31, the hottest ticket in town will get you "On Location" at ShowBiz'97 - the second annual business expo and trade show presented by The Greater Bethesda Chevy-Chase Chamber of Commerce.

The event is sponsored in part by Lockheed Martin, Ourisman Ford Co., Inc, Gazette Newspapers/Montgomery Business Gazette, WTOP Radio and Cable TV Montgomery.

When you enter the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, you'll literally be on location in Bethesda Chevy Chase and surrounded by murals depicting the community's various business districts painted by Sandy Klingenberg (Creative Art Designs) and coordinated by ShowBiz '97 Presentation & Promotion Chair Catherine Fawell (Marketing Communications).

Admission is free to the ShowBiz'97 Exhibit Hall while nominal fees are charged for various functions during the day long event from 8 am to 5 pm.

According to ShowBiz'97 Chair Walter Pennington (Dembo, Jones, Healy, Pennington and Ahalt), the schedule includes "stimulating seminars, dynamic speakers and non-stop networking along with more than 10,000 square feet of compelling exhibits."

Diverse Exhibits
"ShowBiz is Montgomery County's largest business exposition, and the diversity of exhibitors at this year's show demonstrates just that," said Pennington.

"There is literally something for everyone at ShowBiz'97," said Exhibitor Relations Chair Katie Cassidy (Comella Design Group).

She said that the exhibitors "range from auto dealers to accountants... cosmetics to computers... financial to food... hospitality to health... internet to insurance... office machines to office space... payroll systems to publishing and real estate to re tail."

ShowBiz'97 Sponsorship Chair Tracy Bloom (Creative Parties) said that a special exhibition supported by Lockheed Martin will feature top science students from local high schools showcasing their innovative projects.

Kathleen Matthews Invited As Keynoter
WJLA TV news anchor and "Working Woman" host Kathleen Matthews is invited to speak at the event's Keynote Luncheon at 12 noon, according to ShowBiz'97 Special Events Chair Phyllis Lieberman(Stage Two Communications).

Courage & Success
The day will be launched by author and referral sales expert Bill Cates, who will salute "Courage on the Front Line of Sales & Service" during the Kick-Off Breakfast at 8:00 am.

Cates will discuss how determination can mean the difference between success and failure in business and everyday life.

Stimulating Seminars
Two sets of concurrent seminars will be presented in the morning and afternoon during ShowBiz'97, according to Seminar Chair Neil Waldman (Safeguard Business Systems).

He said that attendees can have their brochures, business cards and other marketing material critiqued by free lance writer Marilyn Bagel and graphic designer Stephanie Comella (Comella Design Group) during their morning workshop on "Advertising Copy and Graphic Design."

Cates will reprise with a seminar enabling attendees to "Increase Sales Without Making Cold Calls - Create an Unlimited Supply of High Quality Referrals"

In the afternoon, John Gilroy, an "Ask The Computer Guy" from the Washington Post and National Public Radio, will present a two-part session on Saving Money on Computer Maintenance" and "Making Money on the Internet."

Meanwhile, management consultant C. Nelson Hoy will show attendees how to grow their enterprises through effective "Business Development and Marketing."

The day will conclude with a Networking Reception from 3-5:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall.

By Metro: With the Hyatt Regency Bethesda directly above the Bethesda Metro Station, the Metro Red Line is your best transportation option.

By Car: The Hyatt Regency is in the 7400 block of Wisconsin Avenue, just south of the intersection of East-West Highway & Old Georgetown Road.

Recommended Parking: Metropolitan Garage at Woodmont Avenue & Edgemoor Lane, just off Old Georgetown Road. From north on Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike, right on Woodmont Ave. after passing NIH, cross Old Georgetown Rd. and left to garage entrance. From south on Wisconsin Avenue, left on Old Georgetown Rd., left on Woodmont Ave. and left to garage entrance. From East-West Highway, cross Wisconsin Ave onto Old Georgetown Rd., left on Woodmont Ave. and left to garage entrance.
